Today the phone rang... I forgot I had agreed to do an interview over the phone for a book that will be released next year.
At the time I was busy staring at the ocean at what I thought was a beached whale, but turns out it was a large piece of drift wood haha... not something you want to mention on the phone... he might of though I was nuts =P but to say I was distracted was putting it mildly lol.
He called to interview me about my artwork, in particular my artwork of Louisa Wall in White Light that I did a year and a bit ago, and he wanted to know my inspiration as an artist and also about my life growing up as a country maori boy living on the east coast who happened to be takatapuhi.
Such a vulnerable part of one's self to open up to a stranger, but the most important thing was the BIG message of the book... to empower maori whanau, and takatapuhi to be understanding and loving towards one another.
I know my situation was an extreme one, but... everything happens for a reason.
There are a few people that will be apart of the book so I'll keep you all posted.
